It was our last day at TIFF in the Tribute Media Lounge at the InterContinental but we were still busy talking to celebs!
Diane Kruger and director Alice Winocour came to talk about their new movie, Disorder, which premiered last night at Roy Thomson Hall. Diane shared fascinating insights into the process of creating a character and what it's like to work in different countries that have different cinematic traditions. Alice discussed her fascination with the aftermath of war on the human psyche and how that informed Matthias Schoenarts' character in the film.
Andrea Drepaul told us about her role on the new A&E series, Damien, after enjoying a coffee provided by Aroma Coffee. She also discussed writing and her transition into co-creating her own series.
Nimisha Mukerji is working on a documentary called Tempest Storm, about an octogenarian who is also an exotic dancer. She also talked about her previous doc, 65_RedRoses, which screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival, a story of tremendous hope that focused on a child in dire need of a double lung transplant.
Pan Nalin and Amrit Maghera shared funny stories and feminist viewpoints about their film, Angry Indian Goddesses, billed as India's first female buddy comedy, which was created using improvised dialogue.
TIFF programmer extraordinaire Colin Geddes discussed the process of curating films for the Midnight Madness and Vanguard programs at the festival and being a part of Toronto's vibrant community of genre cinephiles.
Actress, writer and producer Katie Boland discussed her two films that screened at the fest - Boxing - which she produced, and Born to be Blue, in which she plays a supporting role. She talked about her experience of switching roles between acting and creating and shared details about her exciting new upcoming projects. ~Alexandra Heilbron
