Synopsis

A new evil threatens the land eons after the Gods have won their struggle against the Titans. Corrupt with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) declares war against humanity. Forming a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.

Only the one who possesses this bow can free the Titans, who thirst for revenge, having been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time. In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion...until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope.

Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders—including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff)—one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.

  • 5 stars "i could definately wear my dvd player out watching this again and again. i regret not that i didn't take the chance to catch it at the movies. the storyline is simple to follow the character have enough back story to create empathy but still keep your focus on the present action. the actoring was great, even without sound or subtitles you could read so much of the story in the facial expressions of the actor and even their body language. it had enough of mythology to help take a time and place from the history books but the story was still original and action packed nough to have you yelling at the screen in for your favourite characters."
  • 5 stars "i think this movie was one of the best of it's genre i've seen. the only thing i can fault about the movie is that it was a little confusing for those people who actually know the myths as they used some historical characters but the story lines of them were different. but really to someone who didn't know a thing about greek mythology it was an easy story line to follow and the fight scene and actor selection for the characters were spot on"
  • 4 stars "a lot of negative feedback for this movie, but with no reasoning. imo this was a great flick, good story with a lot of depth and good representation of mythology, stunning visuals and some really great fight scenes (other movies could learn a thing or two from the choreography and time mapping). it was better than most films in the genre, it does fall short in the explanation of the mythology - i can understand how someone with no previous knowledge of greek myth. will walk out of this movie thinking it was stupid, but for someone who understands the greek definition of gods, titans and mortals, this is a must see. 4 out of 5 stars."
