When John received a letter from his uncle in Karifa seeking support to fight off a government attack on his home town, he thought it would be a good idea to do the most American thing in response; organize a protest march against the Karifan and French Embassies in Washington DC. His friends knew it was a very bad idea to go against powers that have forced so many of his country men and women to seek homes in foreign lands.
It did not take long for the governments of Karifa and France to respond. By the time John knew that he was not being ignored in safe America, the campaign against him had penetrated into his inner circle and turned his best friend into his worst enemy.
The only fight left for him was understanding what had happened and how to survive a situation where friends and foes saw him as the problem.
