Bana cast as Star Trek villain

By Alexandra Heilbron on October 23, 2007 | 5 Comments

Eric BanaEric Bana is the latest addition to the cast of the new Star Trek movie, in the role of the villain, Nero. John Cho, who played Harold in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, has been cast as Sulu, and Simon Pegg of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz will play Scotty. The original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, meanwhile, denies that he’ll appear in a cameo, saying “I don’t do cameos.” However, he’s upset that he won’t be included in the project: “Here’s a show with my identity in it and not to be part of it is disappointing.” Leonard Nimoy, the original Spock, is the only original cast member slated to appear in the new film.

If the “younger generations” want to see Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, the dvd’s have been available for sometime…

“Trek” has been on a downward spiral since DS9 left the airwaves. It’s time to let it be.
