Britney Spears’ traffic case dismissed

Britney Spears and her two sonsBritney Spears‘ misdemeanor court case has ended in a mistrial, with the jury deadlocked 10-2 in favor of the singer’s innocence. Judge James A. Steele announced the outcome and later dismissed the case. Spears, 26, had been charged after she was caught driving without a California license in August 2007. She faced a possible six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. She has since obtained a valid California driver’s license. Her father, Jamie, testified his daughter had a valid Louisiana license at the time and that she considers Louisiana her permanent residence, but currently lives in Los Angeles because of her two sons, with whom she has visitation rights. Jury foreman Gary Moy was one of the two jurors who voted guilty. He said at a press conference after the decision was announced: “We felt deadlocked from the beginning, there were lots of questions about lack of evidence, whether Spears had a Louisiana license or not, what the definition of residency was. We felt we were never given all the facts in the case.”

GIVE IT UP! It’s just a freaking driver’s license! It never even should have gone to court….a fine, that’s it…plain and simple. I’m amazed the dummies never sent her to jail and wasted more taxpayer money & take her away from her kids and work. Just goes to show that the system is f’d everywhere, not just here in Canada…where if you’re caught driving with alcohol on your breath, you get a 12 hour suspension! Whoopie-doo!

the only thing that’s f’d here, as always, are your “facts”

However, that being said, good to see Spears slowly getting her life in order, hopefully it’s going to continue for the sake of herself and her children

God knows I’m not a fan but isn’t this all rather petty?

Tell that to the California court system. They wanted to throw her in jail so she could serve a few days for driving without a license but her dad insisted on a trial because he didn’t want her to have a record, like Paris.

She should have been jailed just like everybody else that is that stupid. If you live in California you need a license from that State and not from somewhere else. How stupid are you all down there. Even in Canada we have a different license for each province.
    Typical American celebrity justice.

Anyone can insist on a trial, not just a celebrity.

This is not a big enough crime for tying up the courts or filling up the jails. As long as she can prove that she does have a driver’s license in any other state, she should have just gotten a fine. This way, they would be making money off of this instead of it costing them money for needless court and jail time. Throwing her in jail would just cost taxpayer’s money and take Britney away from her job.
