Dentist to clone John Lennon using dead Beatle’s tooth

Edmonton dentist Dr. Michael Zuk bought John Lennon’s tooth for $30,000 at an auction two years ago and he recently revealed what he’s planning to do with it. While talking to the Australian newspaper The Examiner, he said, “To potentially say I had a small part in bringing back one of rock’s greatest stars would be mind-blowing. I am nervous and excited at the possibility that we will be able to fully sequence John Lennon’s DNA, very soon I hope. With researchers working on ways to clone mammoths, the same technology certainly could make human cloning a reality.” John Lennon gave the rotten tooth to his housekeeper in the 1970s. Shortly after buying it at auction, Zuk said, “Most people would say I was crazy, but I think it’s fantastic.” The tooth has been featured in TV shows about DNA and Zuk has created three DNA pendants using a small amount of “tooth dust” from his purchase, one of which is in the U.K. for the “Beatles Mania Mouth Cancer Featuring John Lennon Tooth Tour” to raise awareness about oral cancer. John Lennon was shot and killed in New York City in 1980 by a fan with mental problems.

I thought cloning a human being was against some international law… I remember reading that as a kid when they cloned Dolly, the sheep.

does he think this cloned person will be a male?, and a singer? also John already has a son, Julian, who sings and has his DNA. Another idiot this dentist, spend the $30,000 on doing something good in this world, any charity would appreciate this type of money

I think John is turning in his damn grave at the idea! Artists such as Lennon shine through the uniqueness of their own voice and vision. Cloning him or anyone else would be a sacrilege to their lifes work.

Cloning him will not bring back John Lennon, it won’t be the same soul, therefore it will be a completely different person. One who won’t necessarily even be a good musician or singer. The soul is not in the DNA.
