Depp, Farrell & Law give paychecks to Matilda Ledger

Matilda LedgerJohnny Depp, Colin Farrell , and Jude Law, who took over Heath Ledger‘s role in his final film, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, are giving their paychecks to Ledger’s two-year-old daughter, Matilda. Each actor plays a different version of Heath’s character in the fantasy film. Before his death earlier this year, Ledger had not changed will to include his young daughter after she was born, so the three actors wanted to make sure Matilda will be set for life. Matilda’s mother is actress Michelle Williams. Director Terry Gilliam says of his leading men,”The three actors were totally heroic coming in. This doesn’t happen very often . . . where there’s a tragedy like this, and very famous, very successful actors suddenly say, ‘Okay, we’ll do whatever it takes to help.’ They came; they did the work; they allowed the movie to be finished; they didn’t take money–the money goes to Heath’s daughter. That’s extraordinary!” Matilda’s share of her father’s estate–which is estimated to be worth up to $20 million–will be decided in an Australian court.

With all the shameful, shocking and just plain depressing news that comes out about celebrities every day, this article is truly uplifting. Depp, Law and Farrell are STARS in every sense of the word!

I totally agree with you Arnold. It’s money going from the rich to the rich. She’s not charity case – there are more needy people out there. While it’s sad that she lost her dad at such a young age, money is not what she needs.

Starving Africans? Really? Why would hollywood stars care more about the starving Africans than the Africans themselves do?

wow, i cant believe those of you that would totally degrade these people for doing a NICE deed. the money was SUPPOSED to be heaths anyways, so why cant it go to his daughter? and there are tons of actresses and actors out there that donate large sums of money to needy people, while not very many WORKING PEOPLE do this themselves, so who are any of us to judge how these people should spend THEIR MONEY??? its not really any of your business if you ask me.

That’s right mandee, it is THEIR money and at least they did something nice with it instead of just lumping their own bank accounts up even more. If I had the kind of money they have, I wouldn’t let all of you spend it for me either!!
