Ralph Fiennes is touring Nunavut in search of an Inuk actress to play a lead role in the film Snow Country, which will mark his directing debut. The screenplay is a love story involving a young woman who returns to the Arctic after a bout in a Winnipeg convent. Fiennes says the young woman, whose name is Alma, is “17, 18 in the story, but she could be played by someone a bit older.” However, he’s adamant that the role by played by an authentic Inuk and not someone who just looks Inuk.
