Canadian Jay Baruchel is one of the Ten to Watch

Last night, the Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame and Playback  magazine hosted the “Ten to Watch” Awards Ceremony in Yorkville,  Toronto. Guests included Ellen Page, Norman Jewison, Gordon PinsentMissy PerygrymNicholas Campbell and young up-and-comers Kyle Mac, Holly Deveaux and Tara Joshi of Family Channel’s Baxter. Colin Mochrie served as Master of Ceremonies and Art Hindle hosted the event, which inducted seven industry icons, including screen legend Donald Sutherland, multiple Oscar winner Paul Haggis and beloved actor John Candy into Playback‘s fourth annual Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame. Other inductees were Paul Bronfman, chairman/CEO of Comweb Group and chairman of Toronto’s Pinewood Studio; film producer Don Carmody; filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin and David Suzuki. Two new awards were also handed out this year to new talent: Jay Baruchel, who’s enjoying enormous success with starring roles in films such as The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and The Trotsky, was given the Audi Performance Award and director Jacob Tierney (Good Neighbours, The Trotsky) was given the Panavision Award.

    He’s done really well for himself. Also, most of the other names mentioned, I know who they are so looks like the Canadian TV & film industry is doing well! Our Canadian actors are getting known!
