Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: new box office champion

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes starring Owen Teague and Kevin Durand debuted in the top spot at the weekend box office, garnering an impressive $56.5 million. Click here to watch our interview with the stars.

Last weekend’s top movie, The Fall Guy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, moved down a spot to second, earning an additional $13.7 million for a two-week haul of $49.7 million. Click here to read our review.

Challengers starring Zendaya as a professional tennis coach held onto third place, taking in an extra $4.7 million for a three-week total of $38 million.

The horror movie Tarot, about a group of friends who use a cursed deck, stayed in fourth place, earning an extra $3.5 million for a two-week sum of $12 million.

Rounding out the top five was Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which garnered an additional $2.5 million for an amazing seven-week total of $191.8 million. Click here to read our review.
