Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel walk off Nailed set

By Alexandra Heilbron on May 13, 2008 | 11 Comments

Jessica BielJake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel have walked off the set of the new movie Nailed because of money reasons. The Screen Actor’s Guild will not allow cast members to return to the set until producers prove they have enough money set aside in a union-mandated account to pay the cast. This is the second scandal to hit the set of this movie. A few weeks ago veteran actor James Caan quit the film after a disagreement with director David O. Russell.

i do not believe this is GREED when they want to get PAID for their time and the work they have done. thatd be like if YOU went to work and they couldnt afford to pay you for your months and months of time there, im sure youd be angry and be walking out too 🙂

I agree, mandee. I really don’t think that Kim and Dave would go in to work everyday for free. Besides, this is not really the actors choice. The Screen Actor’s Guild is a ‘union’ for actor’s. You do as they say, and they protect your work. You don’t do as they say, and you’re pretty much out of work!!

And I can’t believe how illiterate some of you are. The actors didn’t walk off because they were “greedy”. Read it again. They walked off because their union made them. You have to support your union’s decisions if you belong to one, or you won’t get their support if you ever need it.

who here thinks that they will just shut the whole fricken’ film down

They are part of a union, just like any other union they have to be paid, even if you want to do pro bono you cannot it is not allowed. I know a writer that had to not take a credit in the film so he could help a friend of his write a pilot for less money than the writers guild allowed and that was 2 years ago. Plus SAG is huge and its not like they wouldn’t know it was going on, Jake and Jessica come on. But thats what happens and those producers know and hopefully they did budget enough otherwise they are to blame for being naiive and stupid since that is the industry we work in.

Isn’t Jake Gyllenhaal suppose to playing Manning in a bio pic? What is production status on that by the way?
