British actress Kate Winslet has been cast in the upcoming film Divergent, which will be directed by Neil Burger. It is based on a trilogy of young adult novels written by Veronica Roth. Winslet, 37, will play Jeanine Matthews, the cold and heartless leader of the Erudite faction. Summit Entertainment has also just announced the participation of The Descendants star Shailene Woodley, 21, and newcomer Theo James, 28. Divergent, which is due for release in Spring 2014, is the latest young adult novel to be adapted to the big screen following in the footsteps of The Twilight Saga, which made over $3 billion worldwide and The Hunger Games, which grossed over $691 million for the first movie in the trilogy at the worldwide box office. ~Carlos Laron
