Patrick Dempsey, who plays Dr. McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy, was in his hometown of Lewiston, Maine on Monday to open a new cancer center called the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center, where he was born 42 years ago. The actor donated $250,000 of his own money to fund the new facility in honor of his mother, who was successfully treated for cancer 10 years ago and is now in remission. “For a family to get a cancer diagnosis is devastating, and all the information out there can be overwhelming,” Dempsey said at a press conference Monday. “A lot of the websites I went to just didn’t have enough information. So, I talked to my sister about a place where people could go for all this type of information and help. Knowledge is power.” Dempsey’s sister Mary will manage the center, which opens March 31.
Geat job Patrick!! I am a huge fan of yours, and you are really high up in my books. Cancer is a devastating disease, and you are promoting the fact that cancer can be stopped one day. Thank you for showing the world that people can be good and helpful.
In honour of his mother, but named after him. Interesting.
Good, anyway you look at it. Just think, his sister is now employed…hehehe

That’s one way to get a job.
