patrick_swayzePatrick Swayze, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 20 months ago, died today at the age of 57 with his family by his side. Despite the grim prognosis, he vowed to fight the disease and surprised many by accepting the lead role in a new television series called The Beast,  which was broadcast earlier this year. Swayze, a dancer and an actor, rose to fame in the 1987 hit film Dirty Dancing, then starred in Ghost, which was an even bigger hit, opposite Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. He leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Lisa, his mother, Patsy, and his brother, Don.

man, RIP this is terrible 🙁 at least he will be at peace without any pain now. i feel for his family and for his fans.

I hope he is at peace but the only way that would be is if he asked Jesus Christ into his heart before he passed away. Our souls will live forever somewhere, where that is,is up to us. I feel for his family and friends though.

It feel would be wise to leave religion out of this thread. It is a very touchy subject and with emotions running high, could easily offend someone. Rest in peace Patrick, you will be forever missed. Time to join that Big IMDB in the sky buddy : )

i agree its best to leave religion out of something like this. his soul is exactly where its meant to be, no one needs to ask god or jesus to accept them, god and jesus are already willing and ready.

No more suffering and fighting. He’s with his dad and sister now. My heart goes out to his family. RIP.

I think it is okay to mention religion as long as you are not pushing your beliefs on us readers. If that is how you feel, Steve, then by all means, live by your beliefs.
What a year, we’ve lost a lot of big names this year.
Patrick Swayze, to do that show as sick as he was, that takes a lot of inner strength and determination. It is sad to lose him but he is not in pain anymore. I was not a Dirty Dancing fan, but Ghost was an awesome movie. And I just looked it up, I didn’t realize he was in the Outsiders, that was a good movie too.

carol, i forgot he was in the outsiders too, i loved that book and movie. sad sad news that hes gone.

jo, thanks 😀 i thought i really got it a lot of the time too, just sometimes others choose to miss that fact hehehe 😉

His sister Vicky committed suicide in ’94. She overdosed. I think she would have been 60 years old this year.

I also loved The Outsiders. Read it and saw the movie in high school.

We pray Patrick knew Christ as Lord and Savior. The same fate awaits you, especially those of you who say to leave religion out of this blog, we are all going to die one day. The Bible is very clear, “He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son does not have life but the wrath of God abides on him.” God loves you and sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins so that you would not have to be lost forever and separated from God in this life and forever in the next, not in heaven. You cannot save yourself, you must open your heart to Christ or you will never see heaven or God. Are you sure you are saved? If you died tonite, where would you be without Christ in your heart? Give your heart to Christ and you will know the love, peace and joy of being a child of God, before it’s too late.

Think Twice: Give it up! Everyone gets their chance to stand in front of the big guy. EVERYONE.

  22. Nancy • September 25, 2009 @ 5:54 PM

The question is….what are you going to say or do when you’re right there in front of him?

  23. tributegirl • September 27, 2009 @ 3:06 PM

Nancy, I’ll probably be in shock, say something stupid like “holy crap!” and get kicked out, with my luck! How about you?

  24. Nancy • September 27, 2009 @ 7:02 PM

Ahh, you just never know what might come out of my “foul mouth”, hahahaha. Especially, since I’m such a “man-hater”!

Most likely though, I’d probably just ask him when I’ll be getting my wings…LMFAO!!!!

  25. Jo-Anne • September 30, 2009 @ 1:50 PM

    your “fly” wings….fed-exed….

  26. Nancy • September 30, 2009 @ 5:05 PM

  27. tributegirl • October 1, 2009 @ 6:59 PM

    Nancy, that is GROSS!!!!!!
I don’t know which would be worse, red-wings, or brown-wings!

  28. Nancy • October 1, 2009 @ 7:32 PM

Hahaha, Tributegirl. ‘Brown-wings’ to go with a brown nose, LOL. Both “GROSS”. Unlike my ANGEL wings!
