Sylvester Stallone – Beverly Hills Cop

An ego is a necessary thing for an actor to have when it comes to starring in and carrying films in a leading role. However, there are times when an overinflated ego can work against you. That was the case with Sylvester Stallone when he had initially taken on the role of Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop. For a while, director Martin Brest put up with the action star's antics on set, but they frequently disagreed with the tone of the film. Sly took issue with the film's comedic tone to the point where he attempted to rewrite the film's script. That became the final straw for Brest and led to Stallone being fired and eventually replaced by Eddie Murphy. The decision proved to be a fruitful one as Beverly Hills Cop would go on to become the highest grossing film of 1984.
