Best – Non-Traditional Music Composers

Though this isn't a trend that has grown as much as I would like, Hollywood's willingness to look beyond traditional music composers for film scores has been welcome this past decade. Probably the best example of this was David Fincher hiring Nine Inch Nails vocalist and songwriter Trent Reznor to collaborate with Atticus Ross for their Oscar-winning score of The Social Network. Their success, along with the popularity of TRON: Legacy's hiring of French electronic duo Daft Punk would help push other films to make similar choices such as M83 in Joseph Kosinki's Oblivion, The Chemical Brothers in Joe Wright's Hanna, and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda for the English score of The Raid: Redemption (pictured). All scores have been among the most unique this past decade and hopefully there is more to come from more varied artists.
