The Social Dilemma (Netflix)

Perhaps the most relevant documentary to come out last year was director Jeff Orlowski's The Social Dilemma. Given all that has gone on the past year, and especially of late in 2021, its subject matter is relevant, compelling, and arguably essential. The documentary covers the dangerous impact that social networking has had with humanity, with many within the tech industry sounding the alarm of the dangers and harms brought about by their own creations. From Google to Facebook to Twitter and more, many key figures in the industry give their take on the tools that have both connected us to one another and have added a new divide. If there was one documentary from 2020 to watch, it should be The Social Dilemma.
