Jessica Tandy was named Best Actress for her work and the heartfelt drama, which co-starred Dan Aykroyd and Morgan Freeman, won the coveted Best Picture award. It topped Born on the Fourth of July, Dead Poets Society, Field of Dreams and My Left Foot for the honor. For good measure, it also won three Golden Globes and a BAFTA.
