Tim Burton: Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter

If you’re a fan of Tim Burton’s dark and quirky films, then you know that he has two muses: Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. For Burton Depp has taken the risks of playing roles such as a man with scissor hands in Edward Scissorhands, the worst director of all-time in Ed Wood, a quirky candy factory owner in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a killer barber in Sweeney Tood: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, a mad hatter in Alice in Wonderland and a vampire in Dark Shadows.

Helena Bonham Carter may be Burton’s real-life partner, but in an interview with the BBC in 2005 she revealed that she still has to audition for his films. “You need to have an objectivity sometimes,” she said. “Of course I have to be right for something otherwise it would be appalling just to get a part because I sleep with him." The couple first met on the set of 2001’s Planet of the Apes and have since created magic together with a string of wacky characters that includes a corpse bride, a witch, and the Red Queen.
