A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) – Horror, Western and Romance

Adding some more international flavor, we have Iranian director Ana Lily Amirpour's A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. Merging together horror in the form of a vampire with a western setting and romance for good measure, Amirpour's feature debut was a critical darling and for good reason. One wouldn't expect this trio of genres to come from an Iranian director, especially one handling her first feature length film, but Amirpour handles the blend of the three with confident composure, for one of the more haunting films of 2014.
