On the Basis of Sex is the story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Felicity Jones), beginning when she’s a student at Harvard Law School. The film won the Truly Moving Picture Award at the 2018 Heartland Film Awards. Director Mimi Leder began her directorial career in 1987 on TV with the legal series L.A. Law, and went on to win Emmys for her work on the series ER and The West Wing. Her feature film debut was The Peacemaker in 1997, starring Nicole Kidman and George Clooney, but subsequent films such as Deep Impact (1998), Pay It Forward (2000) and On the Basis of Sex (2018) won more acclaim.
