While the Coen brothers are best known for some the most original films of the last 30 years, True Grit stands out as the true oddball project in their filmography. Their 2010 remake of the classic John Wayne western True Grit reunited the brothers with The Big Lebowski star Jeff Bridges in arguably their most straightforward film to date. With a solid cast that includes the likes of Matt Damon, Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Brolin, the film was a gripping retelling of the western revenge flick that both audiences and critics adored, which helped it garner 10 Oscar nominations.
