With France hard hit by the pandemic and most businesses in lockdown, animation studio Illumination Mac Guff announced that its animators, who are based in their studios in Paris, France, would not be able to complete Minions: The Rise of Gru in time for its July 3, 2020 release date. The film will now release on July 2, 2021.
