The Wizard of Oz (1939)

At the end of The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy wakes up and tells her friends and family that they appeared in her “dream” as alternate versions of themselves, implying Oz was an alternate universe. But if that’s the case, why didn’t we see an alternate version of Dorothy? One theory suggests this is because Dorothy was actually the Wicked Witch of the East; that lady who had a house dropped on her. This would explain how the two magically have the same size feet so the ruby slippers are easily interchanged between them, and why we don’t see any other characters remotely resembling Dorothy. The house dropped on “other Dorothy” so as to prevent a paradox wherein the two would exist at the same time in the same universe. Do you have a headache yet?
