Sucker Punch (2011)

As visionary a director as Zack Snyder is—and make no mistake, he is a visionary—Snyder is also often misguided with his approach to film, as his vision sometimes works against him. That was the case with his 2011 original film Sucker Punch, in which his intention of a feminist film didn’t quite jive with the product he ultimately put out. Instead, Sucker Punch felt like a teenage fan fiction come to life with only a loosely coherent narrative to be found. However, the film still packs a fantastic soundtrack, visually stunning set pieces and some breathtaking cinematography to boot, making it a visual and auditory buffet for the senses.
