Ryan Reynolds: Deadpool

Before Ryan Reynolds became the Deadpool we all know and love, he starred in two other superhero films—Green Lantern and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Green Lantern was a huge disappointment, and in the Deadpool movies he even breaks the fourth wall to crack jokes about it. Reynolds actually already played Deadpool before in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, although he played a very different Deadpool in comparison to the character's comic book origins, as the writers removed his mouth. This was a terrible creative decision for the character nicknamed “The Merc with a Mouth” and it really did not sit well with fans. The release of Deadpool in 2016 turned it around for Reynolds in an era of superhero films. The movie took the opportunity to change the perspective of his history with superhero films, telling jokes only Deadpool/Ryan Reynolds could deliver, making them all the more funny. It's hard to imagine anyone other than Reynolds playing Deadpool.
