It's tough to imagine how a five-time Oscar-winning film could have been built on a fiery feud, but that was the case for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). Even though stars Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman both won Academy Awards for their performances in the bold drama, the production process wasn't without faults. While Meryl advocated for her character and fought to tweak the way she was portrayed, Dustin dug into her and attempted to unsettle her. He frequently snapped at Meryl, taunted her about her recently deceased lover, and slapped her in the face before an already emotionally-charged scene.
