Nominees: A Man Called Ove, Land of Mine, Tanna, The Salesman, Toni Erdmann

Will win: Toni Erdmann — The German dramedy Toni Erdmann has been praised by critics and audiences alike. Maren Ade's film, about a reluctant woman who must spend time with her estranged father when he unexpectedly arrives for a visit, looks poised for Oscar glory.

Should win: Tanna — Australia's first ever entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category, Tanna is a profoundly authentic story of loyalty and forbidden love. Co-directed by Martin Butler and Bentley Dean, it's easily our top pick for the prize.
