Viola Davis – Suicide Squad (2016)

Although both Will Smith and Margot Robbie delivered memorable takes as DC anti-heroes Deadshot and Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, it was Viola Davis' Amanda Waller that truly stole the show. Davis commanded every one of her scenes and fully embodied the confidence and unflinching resolve of her comic book counterpart. For a film featuring so many skilled warriors and magical beings, none felt as threatening as Davis' more administrative character — and that speaks volumes of her performance.
