It took Martin Scorsese a while, but the legendary filmmaker finally got his elusive Oscar win in 2007 with The Departed, his remake of the 2002 Hong Kong crime film Infernal Affairs. Changing the setting to Boston and filling out his cast with heavy hitters such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Jack Nicholson, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, Anthony Anderson, and Alec Baldwin, The Departed was a crime thriller for the ages. The cat-and-mouse game of a police mole and undercover cop is one that kept audiences on the edge of their seats, instantly making it one of the more memorable Best Picture winners this century. Though the film isn't as iconic as a few of Scorsese's other films, it's certainly up there with the best of his long and storied career.
