Suicide Squad (2016)

Following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. and DC quickly worked up reshoots to retool their next installment in their cinematic universe. Looking to bank on the popular reception of Suicide Squad's initial trailer, the studio mandated reshoots to restructure the film in order to accommodate that lighter tone. Financially the film may have been perceived as a hit, but the added costs of the reshoots reduced its success to merely breaking even. Narratively, the film suffered as well, with scenes reworked to minimize its darker tone, leaving some roles heavily reduced, such as Jared Leto's Joker. With the franchise undergoing a soft reboot with James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, it’s safe to say that reshoots for the film didn’t pan out.
