Whoopi Goldberg

In 2002 Whoopi Goldberg was the first African-American to complete her EGOT with a Daytime Emmy as the host of Beyond Tara: The Extraordinary Life of Hattie McDaniel and a Tony award as one of the producers for Best Musical for Thoroughly Modern Millie in the same year. Her first award was a Grammy in the Best Comedy Recording category for Whoopi Goldberg – Original Broadway Show Recording in 1986, and an Academy Award in 1991 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Ghost. However, Goldberg’s EGOT has been a topic of controversy as she won a Daytime Emmy not a Primetime one.
