How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World – $161 million

It’s a little hard to believe that DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon series first began at the start of the decade, but here we are 10 years later with its conclusion, The Hidden World. After the original set the bar for the franchise with $217 million at the domestic box office, the series saw diminishing returns with each successive sequel, with How to Train Your Dragon 2 making $177 million, followed by The Hidden World’s $161 million. However, each sequel also became more profitable thanks to the cheaper costs in production with the third entry in the series costing just $129 million to produce, compared to the original’s $165 million price tag.
