James Rhodes / War Machine – Iron Man

Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes, or War Machine, was the first major character recast in the Avengers franchise. Terrence Howard appeared as the character in the first Iron Man movie but was replaced by the second film with Don Cheadle. It's unclear whether Howard left or was pushed out, but he revealed in an interview the role was ultimately recast due to a salary dispute.
