When they’re about a foreign place, actors are called upon to research in order to give audiences an authentic experience. And sometimes that requires an actor to do an accent. Even for some of the best actors in the business, maintaining an accurate accent is difficult. We take a look at movies in which actors have had to portray a character with a different accent from their own, but unfortunately fell short, leaving audiences disappointed, confused, and/or cringing in their seats. ~Sean Olegario

I recently watched an British film called Hope Gap with Annette Bening playing an English woman and her English was so obviously wrong and uneven it made the film very hard to watch. I think she’s done English accents before and they’ve been acceptable, but on this outings it was painful. Annette, don’t do this again!
