Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End held on to the top spot at the weekend box office with receipts totaling $43.2 million (all figures US) for a total gross of $216.5 million. The new comedy Knocked Up debuted in second place with $29.2 million. Shrek the Third dropped from second to third with $26.7 million, for a total of $254.6 million. The new thriller Mr. Brooks opened in fourth place, while Spider-Man 3 dropped two spots to fifth, earning an additional $7.5 million for a total gross of $318.3 million.
