Simon Cowell gives $$ to girl with cancer

Simon CowellAmerican Idol judge Simon Cowell may have been harsh with his comments to the competitors on the show this week, but he has a big heart when it comes to helping those less fortunate. He gave the family of a cancer-stricken three-year-old girl $162,000 to pay off their mortgage. He told Oprah Winfrey the news on her Big Give show Monday, saying, “I never knew that doing good could feel so good.”  The girl’s family drives more than 100 miles from their home in Minnesota every day to get their daughter, Madeline, cancer treatments. “It’s a very basic story of a normal family whose daughter got very ill, and they had some financial problems which was relatively easy for me to sort out,” Cowell told Extra.

Good for him. I like Simon, he’s nasty, but he’s honest, and for him to help this family who is going through so much, is just awesome.

    I totally agree!!

Hey Nancy! Nice to have you back, I was worried you were gone for good.
Do you watch American Idol? My favorite part is the auditions when he tells people how badly they suck. He’s so right! And everyone keeps telling him he’s wrong and doesn’t know what he’s talking about! Soooooo funny!

Just needed to cool off, I was p*ssed!!! I ONLY watch the auditions….they are the best!! LMFAO! After the auditions are over, I don’t watch anymore. Simon rules! I think it was very nice of him to give to the family mentioned above.

The auditions were too funny! I liked the guy in the silver cape.

What Simon did was very kind. Way to go!!!

OmG, you mean the guy they sent away to get waxed, & he came back? I loved Josiah, the little blonde who lived in his car in Florida, he was so cute. But he started crying too much.
I watched Oprah the other day when they showed him paying off that mortgage for those people. I hardly ever watch Oprah but when I found out he was on it, oh yeah, had to watch!

I know you were P.O.’d Nancy, I saw your posts before they deleted them, and I posted one (which they also deleted) asking you not to go, or to at least give your e-mail addy. But thanks for coming back, this place isn’t the same without you!

Hope all is well with you and looking forward to your comments. I hope your still not p^ssed but please don’t calm down.

Simon Cowl, now that’s generous and putting $ in the right place. Bravo!

Thanks guys! Don’t worry…..I’m keeping my claws nice and sharp!! LOL

Yes, it’s generous alright. It’s also good PR!

  11. browny • March 20, 2008 @ 11:30 AM

He’s making fools of all of you. He is a gutless person.

  12. Nancy • March 20, 2008 @ 3:33 PM

Speak for yourself, browny! He is not making a fool of anyone. Simon is just the type of person who is honest enough to tell you the truth and the way things are. I would rather be told the truth than have someone beat around the bush and be dishonest with me so as not to hurt my feelings….such as Paula Abdul.

I agree he’s pretty straight to the point. Some people find his comments hard to swallow. He comes across as the King of mean but he does have a good heart to help a sick little girl and her family.

Plus it’s all part of the show. It would be pretty dull if all the judges were pouring you that sweet cup of coccoa all the time!

  14. cherie • March 21, 2008 @ 7:52 AM

It was a very nice thing that he did.

  15. tributegirl • March 22, 2008 @ 8:11 PM

Exactly, Igloo. Can you just imagine if all the judges were all kind and sweet like Paula? The show wouldn’t have had a second season! And what’s up with Canadian Idol? Why do they have to make it such an American Idol Wannabe show? I mean, look at the judges, they have the black guy who is straight up, the girl who is a little soft, and the guy with the sharp tongue (who is obviously a Simon wannabe, did you watch World Idol that time?), it is soooooo wannabe that it makes me sick! I won’t watch it, not even the auditions! Why can’t they make it a little more original? They could have a french person, an english person, and a native, all at odds with each other, and arguing about the people auditioning! It could be great!
