Twilight stars to “gender bend” in new movie

kristenstewart_nikkireed.jpgTwilight stars Kristen Stewart, 18, and Nikki Reed, 20, who are BFFs in real life, are going to play men in their next film together. “I’m doing a movie called ‘K-11’ in January with Kristen Stewart,” Reed told MTV.com. “It’s about a little-known section of the men’s county jail. I’m playing a [30-year-old] man, and Kristen’s playing a boy.” The movie takes place in the section of the Los Angeles county jail keeping gay inmates segregated from the general prison population. Stewart told moviesonline.ca: “It’s full of eccentric, crazy, off-the-wall characters, and me and Nikki play two of them. Jason Mewes wakes up in this place and doesn’t know where he is and tries to break out for two weeks. He tries to integrate himself into the community. It’s a really sweet but really screwed up little family in there.” Stewart’s mom, who’s a veteran script supervisor, is making her directing debut with the picture.

in shakespeare’s days, women werent allowed to act. men acted the parts of women.

Gay male actors should be playing these roles.

Do we need this movie at all? Is there a point to it?

The male actor wouldn’t have to be gay.. many straight male actors have taken on gay roles before. No biggie. And I agree about the eccentric portrayal of gay men and having women play their parts.. I think it would be more effective seeing actual men play those parts because it would be more realistic looking. Also, there are a lot of gay men who act ‘straight’, but of course that wouldn’t be as interesting or ‘believable’ to watch.
