Uma Thurman battles against breast cancer

Uma Thurman has teamed up with Saks Fifth Avenue and Donna Karan to help in the battle against breast cancer. The actress was named as the ambassador for Saks’ Annual Key to the Cure shopping event, which, along with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, has raised more than $33 million for the fight against the disease in the past 12 years. Uma said: “Everyone I know has been affected by breast cancer one way or the other. It is vital that we work toward a cure as well as develop more accurate and advance testing.” Uma will star in print ads as well as a national public service announcement, in which she will wear a limited-edition T-shirt designed by Donna Karan. All proceeds from the $35 top will be donated to local partner charities and the designer wanted to do her bit to help. She said: “For me, it’s not just about dressing women; it’s about addressing the issues that are so important to all of us.”

Good for her. Angelina Jolie isn’t the only one who does good deeds, but it seems sometimes like she’s the only one who gets press for it.

im glad that she is helping this cause, although the headline made me think uma had cancer herself.

katie angelina jolie only gets so much press because shes so famous.

Kudos to Uma,another star who is stepping up to help this cause!!!No need to degrade Jolie, she has always been there for any and all types of charity work!!Can’t blame her for all the press,it’s the pap’s that are stuck up her a$$ that bring it to the public’s eye!!!

Sorry guys..it’s a hopeless cause. There’ll never be a cure for cancer. There’s no money in the cure, only in treatments – making pharmaceutical companies rich. If there was a cure, you won’t know about it. Throwing more money at this cause will be fruitless.
