Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuaron, was one of my most anticipated movies of the year. With amazing actors, a simple yet interesting story, and beautiful cinematography, this movie looked to be excellent. Well, it was more than excellent. Gravity is one of the best movies of the year, and one of the best movies ever set in space. STORY/WRITING: The story is simple: Sandra Bullock and George Clooney are stranded in space after an accident with no communication with NASA. But there is much more to it than that. The story is complex, with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat with your heart beating 10x faster than it should. The suspense is held throughout a huge par
Breath-taking special effects. Amazing visuals. Wonderful use of 3D IMAX technology! I really felt that I was part of an unique experience.
Gravity must be seen in 3D IMAX. The visuals are stunning, the special effects realistic and Sandra Bullock is amazing. The closest thing to riding the Space Shuttle now that there are no more Space Shuttles!!!
Sandra Bullock. That's what you get with this movie. Basic premise. But it's her backstory and the journey she goes on while in space that makes the movie. Questions about religion, faith, why is she up there, who is she, and where is her life going are all answered in detail in this movie. Not an action packed movie. Don't expect that but a movie with great acting and emotionally driven thrill and suspense. 3D IMAX was good too.
I loved the cinematography, special effects, and the amount of effort they put into simulating what space is really like. Unfortunately the plot was very weak and too unbelievable.
Visually Epic! This sci-fi master piece delivers on almost every level, including a beautiful and level performance from Sandra Bullock and the most outstanding visual effects of our time. Brilliant film-making!
Do yourself a favor: go and see this film. It’s best on a large screen: you get the full feel of the vastness of space. Excellent storing, cinematography was (he he) out of this world, stunningly good acting from Sandra Bullock. The ‘rebirth’ metaphor was applied heavy handed but it was still a great movie. Left feeling satisfied: a very rare feeling with films these days.
Great special effects
Worth while seeing in Imax 3D. Pretty amazing. Enjoyed the story line also.
An OK movie....not a 5 star effort by any stretch. Very little suspense, but reasonably good effects for those parts of the movie where they are used.
A terrifying and believable space adventure. Never a dull moment. Sandra Bullock's performance is one which will surely grant her an Oscar nomination. This film really makes the viewer appreciate gravity.
This movie is extremely BORING
Gravity - easily the worse movie I've seen this year. No amount of CG could save this movie. The physics are way off. The events are highly improbable at best. When's the last time you herd the space station getting hit by debris? Exactly, never! The Circumference of the space station's obit is massive!! Now take that number and calculate the area. You're going to tell me that space debris is going to hit 2 separate targets at different times. Ok...... You have a better chance of getting hit by lighting 5 times. If that wasn't enough there's even more improbable moments and events that I haven't even mentioned lol. How can critics give this rave reviews?? That's the real question?
Gravity isn't a movie, I would say its more an experience. If you go thinking you will see character development or a great story line, forget it. It's more about what space and weightlessness is really like and how unforgiving the environment can be. On that score this "movie" is awesome! The special effects are excellent as well.
I was riveted to the seat. Every second was vital to the plot. What a great movie.
I loved this movie! Suspenseful and stunning in 3D Imax. Sandra Bullock was amazing!
Great movie. Saw it twice in a week. However, if you think you're going to get the unparalleled IMAX viewing experience, courtesy of the giant curved screen, in London's Silvercity, think again. The giant screen is absent and so is the classic IMAX experience. The admission fee for what does get shown is way too high, I believe. So, if you're looking for classic IMAX, save your money and watch the movie in a traditional format for almost half the price.
Finally, we have hard SF done right. See this movie in IMAX, in 3-D. Don't worry about the plot or the script: the story is very direct, which is what it needs to be. What this movie does is re-create the environment accurately, something that I personally have not seen since "2001: A Space Odyssey". This is a film about being there, in the environment, with the people. It needs to be immersive, it needs the IMAX 3-d for full effect. See it there if you can: the smaller the screen you watch it on, the more the point of the movie will be lost (IMNSHO). PS: it took me a few minutes to get my "land legs" back after I exited the theatre. First time that's happened with a movie...
The video and audio effects are excellent! If you love the Universal studio's rides, you will find this movie very entertaining. Defiantly the effects we have not seen before in the movie. It is not even about the plot what makes this movie spectacular, its everything else. And Sandra Bullock pulled it off on her own, thumbs up, did not expect it from her.
Not a bad movie, but the reviews have been way overblown. I would give a 5/10.
This is disrespect the audience; consider they can swallow everything, even such an idiotic and stupid scenario. I would request my money back if I could.
People who rated this movie poorly, please stop watching movies because you clearly have to idea what a good film is. Wow this movie is a must see! Incredible film making!!!! Incredible acting!!!! Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!
I have to give it up to Hollywood. They somehow got me to leave my home to watch what I thought was horrible slow paced movie, other than the twirling around in space. I'm not one to comment about movies but this was bad. However I do have to say that the acting was good if that helps. 1/2 star if I could.
Worst movie of the year! Save your money, more importantly, save your time! The director needed Sandra and George to peak your interest, and then in went downhill from there.
I went in expecting too much, all the fuss, all the reviews, set the bar really, really high. I like the movie, it was amazing to look at but ... the bar was awful high.
This movie is AMAZING!!! Great acting, script and visuals that will blow your mind! It makes Avatar look like child's play. Go see it!!!
Those that gave it 5 stars have never seen the movie.
What a ride. a must see.
The year's best movie.
You all just got to LOVE Sandra Bullock in this (Gravity: An IMAX 3D Experience) movie !
