My favourite tree ornaments are these elf dolls my mom has. They are soft and plush and they have long dangly legs that you can either let hang loose, or “tie up” in the elf’s arms. They’re fun and unique. We don’t put them up every year, but it’s always like a treat when we do.

My grandmother gave my daughter a homemade mouse carrying an empty basket when she was super little. She found an acorn on the ground on the way home and put it in the basket. Every year (she is 19 now) she looks in the basket to see if that acorn is still there – that is my favorite ornament 🙂

My favourite ornament is the Leg Lamp from A Christmas Story that my sister bought for me, then I accidentally dropped and was devastated when it broke in half. My sister glued it back together for me but because it’s glass, pieces of it were too small to glue back on so it’s now from just above the knee down and the full size lamp shade lol it’s like a midget leg lamp. Greatest ornament ever!

My favorite tree ornaments are the ones that my 2 sisters and I painted when we were little. Every year when we were growing up we would make an ornament for the tree together as a family. My Mom would make hot chocolate for us all, Christmas music and the fire would be on. My parents would have cider , sit back and chat lovingly watching us paint away. My parents now no longer here. Those Christmas’s feel so long ago,yet their memories live on in the traditions still upheld. The three of us sisters still hang the ornaments we made together each year in memory of my parents and of that one special evening when we were all together, as one happy family. Thanks Mom and dad for creating such lasting memories. We love you.

My favourite tree ornament was given to me by my Grandfather when I was 12 years old. It is shaped like a round silver ball and it chirps Christmas carols when you turn on the switch.

I lived in Spain for a few years some time back. I had collected ornaments for years prior to this, and I happened to find the cutest Santa wearing a sombrero on a burro. It’s white plaster, and his sombrero is red, it’s not shiny or polished or sparkly, but it’s my very favorite ornament of all the thousands I have.

My fanourite ornament is a pair of mittens that I made for my mom at Brownies out of a hair clip with material and lace over it. So pretty and since she’s passed, I always feel her when I look at that ornament that she proudly clipped to her tree branch every year 🙂
My mother and father have both passed away so I cherish the ornaments that I inherited from them that they obtained while living in England in 1947 the historical value is cherished in these family heirlooms for Christmas and in my family’s hearts for the generations to follow to carry on their legacy with pride. An ornament that I made in grade 2 from painted seeds. I never liked it and wanted to throw it out, but my mom told me how much it meant to her and all the memories she has associated with it.

Our daughter was 22 weeks pregnant with twins when she went into premature labour just before Christmas. She delivered a very tiny baby girl . This little angel passed away at just one hour old. We did get to hold her. Three days later, a little baby boy arrived who lived only 3 hours. We held this precious little angel too. To commemorate these two beautiful darlings, we have two little angels that we put onto the Christmas, both with their names and birth dates on them. Needless to say, they are our most precious ornaments!
I agree with many of the previous comments that the favourites are ones made by their children. I love taking out the ornaments and remembering the circumstances surrounding when we got them. My very favourite is a crystal angel.

I have a tiny ceramic jug that my mother always put on her tree when I was a kid. She actually brought this jug from England when she arrived as a war bride. My mother passed away many years ago, but I still have this jug which gets a special place on my Christmas tree every year. This helps me to remember her again at Christmas.

Last Christmas I put up my first tree since 1986. I intended to by a tree, but ended up getting two … I suppose to make up for the fact that I had gone without for so long. All the decorations were bought last year … except for a few I picked up about a week ago. So I love them all. But there is one style tht really sticks out. It is a beautiful shade of purple alternating with green. I think it is awesome.

Every year we go to a local craft show filled with Canadian home based businesses and artists. There is one lady that makes beautiful ornaments that she will personalize on the spot with your child’ name and the year. It is an amazing keepsake that I will be able to give to my daughter when she is older.

My favorite ornaments are the ones my son made for me when he was little. Like the snowman made out of spools painted white, with a black felt hat and buttons twigs.
The first two ornaments that we bought ur first year in Canada that have both of my son’s names on them. A third had my husband’s name on it but it got broken and now he is my ex-husband (not due to the broken ornament).

As long as I can remember my Mother had little cardinal ornaments on the tree. I don’t know how many there are, but I do know that all but one are broken. I have the one & I will cherish it forever. My Mother loved cardinals.
A few years ago I went to a Medium & she told me that whenever I see a cardinal it will be my Mother visiting.

A tiny knitted snowman made by my mom. She died a few years ago, so it’s extra-special to bring that wee thing out every year.

My favourite is a handmade wooden heart ornament, painted pink with flowers, that I purchased for my daughter in the gift shop at Black Creek Pioneer Village back in 2002. It was her first trip there, and it was just before Christmas, so the Village was beautifully decorated as it would have been back in the day. It was magical. You really felt transported back in time. Every year when we put it on our tree, we remember that beautiful day.

My favorite is a WWII blue bell shaped ornament. It belonged to my parents. When I asked for one from their tree, I was given this. It was not my first choice as I thought that it had been from later years, until my late mother told me different. My sister had taken almost all of the ones that were there, but mother had managed to save this one, and it is now mine. With both parents gone, it holds a special spot on the tree this year

My favourite Christmas ornanment is the snowman that my mom handed down to me when I got married many, many years ago. I got several from her at that time and they bring back such great memories of Christmas’ past when I look at them. I hope to pass them onto my son someday.
18 years ago my son made what he called a “pooped out reindeer” the was made from brown and tan fuzzy balls glued together with pipe cleaners on it’s head and a fuzzy red nose. He called it pooped out because it couldn’t stand up so we just laid him on a branch looking out at everyone. Merry Christmas everyone.
My dad’s gold-plated golf club. I had it made for him years ago, he’s now deceased, which makes it even more special. I have no idea what golf has to do with Christmas…lol…but it had everything to do with him! AND he was a jeweller, thus the gold plating.

A �PRINCELY” attired frog, all green, silver and gold, standing on its long hind legs, with lips extended and puckered!
It was a gift, from my recently deceased mom, who wished to remind us that there is a prince out there just waiting to be kissed.

A homemade ornament — a teddy bear made from sea urchins. It was made by my sister who had them displayed at a craft sale and purchased from her by my young son who wrapped it up for me for a Christmas gift years ago.
My favorite ornament was given to me about fifteen years ago by my one and only brother, Russ. He knows that my favorite cartoon character is Mickey Mouse so when he found a delicate, hand-painted egg ornament, he had to get it for me. It is the last thing to go on the tree and the first to come off so it doesn’t get knocked off and broken. I would be devastated if I could no longer enjoy it year after year.

My favourite ornament is but a distant memory now. I asked everyone coming to my Christmas party many years ago to bring a homemade decoration for my tree. A British girlfriend decorated a lime with a face and told me it was her….a limey. Thought it was cute and wanted to save it for the following year. Unfortunately, fresh produce does not age well in a ziplock bag in the ornament box. The following year I tried to figure out what the bag of brown liquid was. Oh limey, you will be fondly remembered in your prime!! 🙂

We got our first Xmas tree 2yrs ago. My kids ages were 20, 18 and 15☺ they finally were able to convince my husband to celebrate Xmas. I was and still am very happy to put up the tree and any ornament hung is very precious to me☺

my favourite ornament is a crystal Doves Of Peace ornament that was given to me by my grandmother. She’s long since passed now, but I remember as if it were yesterday. I was staying with her while my mother was in the hospital. We didn’t have money to buy gifts, so we gave something of ourselves to one another. I gave my grandmother a hand written note promising to do whatever she asked me to do without getting mad, and she gave me an ornament with beautiful white doves.( which she said were doves of peace). She’s had that ornament every since she was 12 years old, which she had gotten from her mother. While she has passed on, I find joy in knowwing she is smiling down on me year after year and watching as I share that same ornament on my tree with my own children.

My fav ornament is one from my husbands childhood- it is a Styrofoam gingerbread man that he took a bite of when he was little! What makes it special is that my son also took a bite if it when he was little as did our Dachshund when he was a puppy!

Hello. My favorite ornament is the one my Mother gave me about 10 years ago. It is so fragile as it is made of that really thin glass like the old fashion decorations used to be made of. It is a snowman that has movable arms and legs and is wearing a Santa Suit. We were shopping together in this really nice Antique store in Chilliwack, B.C. and she bought it for me. She has been gone now for 6 years and I miss her so very much but to have this snowman on my tree to remind me of her is very special to me. Love you Mom. Thank you for your contest. Thank you for the contest. My favourite tree ornament is a little handmade mouse sleeping in a half walnut shell with a little red thread on it to hang on the tree. It is delightful and always reminds me of the time in my life when my friends and I all made our stuff for the tree as we had little babies and kids and didn’t want to use glass balls that could break or cut them if an accident happened.
My second favourite is one that has my son’s name painted on it as we couldn’t ever find his name on anything.

It’s so cute, the ornament could fit in the palm of your hand and pattingtons yellow sweater and hat are all hand made. I have many favourites but one that is very special to me is a home-made ornament that my Mom made out of a styrofoam tray that comes with store-bought baking – it’s a wreath cutout with “Merry Christmas” written on it and it has two bell cutouts suspended by bits of yarn from it with “Peace” and “Joy” written on them. The ornaments that my boys have brought home from school and cubs. They have the most meaning to me.
I love the ornaments that my daughters made when they were in elementary school. I put them on the tree every year.
I have an hand made ornament of an angel that I made back in Kindergarten – about 1976. We had to sew 2 pieces of fabric together and stuff it with cotton. Then we had to sew lace along the sides to create the wings. We then sewed a circle on the front for the face and drew the face on. And last we pinned a small piece of lace to the front as an apron. I still have that ornament and it still makes me smile!
I also have an antique reindeer ornament from my great grandmother – and no matter how you hang it, it twists around and faces into the tree so that all you see is its rear!

My favourite Christmas ornament is a wee little cow – but it’s special because my husband recreated it from a Hallmark ornament. I has spotted the original in the Hallmark store, but when he went to buy it for me, they were sold out. The clerk checked other stores in the area, but none had it available.
Rather than being deterred, Ray picked up the Ornament Catalogue that had a good picture of the cow in it, and then recreated it, using modeling clay and paint. It was so close to the original, it was hard to tell it had been handmade. When I opened it on Christmas Eve, I was so touched by what he had done, I burst into tears. That little cow is now front and centre of my cow collection year round, and always holds place of honour on the tree during the holidays. It’s a gift I’ll treasure for the rest of my life, because it was made from the heart of my beloved husband.

I had Brent on one side of the bell and Ursuina on the other, and below the word LOVE. We are now married and I think each time I look at it how pretty it is and how long ago it was I gave it to him.

Each year my daughter, who is now 22, puts as the final decoration on the tree – a picture that was taken of her in kindergarten. It has a homemade popcicle stick frame and is hung by a green ribbon. Last year, I was expecting my first child, a little baby girl who was due on Valentine’s day 2014. Unexpectedly she was born prematurely just before the Holidays and she did not survive because she was just too tiny. Christmas was especially hard and my best friend gave me a little ornament of a baby’s footprint that states: No Footprint is Too Small to Leave an Imprint on This World. Holidays will never be the same & I will always cherish this little ornament in memory of my beautiful baby girl.

I bought an ornament from a Christmas Market a few years ago that I gifted to close friends of mine that are married and hold an annual Christmas party. While the ornament is not mine, it is my favourite and I see it every year since my friends put it on their tree and it’s very meaningful to each Christmas party they hold. It’s a wooden shaped like an old fashioned ornament and on it is written “What happens at the Christmas party stays at the Christmas party.”

I would have to say that my favorite ornament is the angel on the top of our tree. My parents had gotten it the first Christmas in our new house when I was a year old and it stayed on the tree until I moved out of the house and they changed to a star but I took that angel and have had it on my tree ever since so she has had a 35 year life span and is still brightening up our tree to this day.

It’s really hard to pick one of my kids home made ornaments but I would have to say that a ceramic angle my daughter made when she was in grade two is my favorite. Like most of my kids ornaments it is beat up but it has a place of pride every year on our tree.
Over the years we have collected ornaments from ours sons making them as Beavers, Scouts, school, we’ve collected ornaments via family vacations or yearly ornaments with family names and year on it … these make up a great collections and bring us great memories every year.

A salt dough wreath that I made with my mum when I was a kid is my favourite. It’s a bit beat up, but I couldn’t not put it up.
When my gorgeous red-haired niece was almost 5 yr. old, her and I tried to bake a few gingerbread cookies in festive holiday shapes. They didn’t come out perfectly.
I don’t think the Rudolph had a red nose or any nose, however we strung the cookies all over the tree. It was something that her and I did together. A fun great memory.

My all time favorite “Christmas Ornament” is the last one my MOM gave me in 2010 for Christmas it was an Angel with my birthstone & hers in a book that the angel was holding in her hands.
My Mom passed away in September 03,2011 she never made it to Christmas, Dad found Angels that she was crocheting for us that she never got to finish…

I was about 10 years old and I came downstairs on Christmas Eve, only to see my dad hauling in all the gifts for us for Christmas that he had stored in his warehouse. He had a moving business. They chased me off to bed right away, but this was when I figured there was no Santa Clause. A big letdown, but I was still excited to see my gifts in the morning. We were a family of 16, 9 girls and 7 boys, with one baby boy crossing over only after a few week after his birth, but I always include him. We would come down stairs on Christmas morning and in the living room there would be piles of different toys on the floor with tags on them with our name on them. We had to check all the tags to find our toys. So exciting, I remember it so well.
One of my earliest memories was watching my great grandmother set up a little Christmas tree in her bedroom. We always had a big tree in our living room but my great grandmother had her special little tree in her bedroom. She passed away when she was 96, I was 12. I was given her little tree when she passed away. That was 36 years ago. Every year I would set it up but now it is so fragile, the needles are falling off. I still have it in the original box packed safely away. Merry Christmas everyone.
