Ben Affleck responds to Sad Affleck meme

Ben Affleck #SadAffleck memeIt’s about time Ben Affleck broke the sound of silence. Literally.

Remember the viral Sad Affleck meme that left everyone in splits? If you missed it, here’s what happened. Ben Affleck and his co-star Henry Cavill were promoting their film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last year.

When an interviewer questioned the duo about the reviews, Henry took the lead while Ben sat in silence, sadly gazing into the void.

A fan remixed that portion of the interview and played Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” as the camera slowly zoomed in on Ben’s sad demeanor. Thus, giving birth to the Sad Affleck meme.

The video went viral, reaching over 22 million views before being taken down for copyright infringement. Oh, and the song climbed the Billboard charts.

Batman finally responded to the meme in an interview with BBC Radio 1: “It taught me not to do interviews with Henry Cavill where I don’t say anything and they can lay Simon and Garfunkel tracks over it, that’s one thing I learned.” He has a sense of humor! You should smile often, Batman.

Kudos to Ben for taking the humor in stride. Watch the interview below, the hilarity starts at the 25 second mark. ~Marriska Fernandes

ha ha ha. I had never watched it before. It’s funny. But I hope Affleck can make a better Batman flick on his own. I think his movies have come a long way. Let’s see how he handles that kind of action.

Whoever put that Sound of Silence clip together deserves an award. I don’t care about Ben in any way, but I’m always happy to hear Simon & Garfunkel.

Addictions are a hard thing to overcome. Rich or poor it affects your life. I give Jennifer a lot of credit. I’m not as a forgiving person. Sometimes your problems seem to overwhelm you. For me right now I’m scared of being homeless. I feel bad for those in the limelight. I would hate that. I don’t read much gossip magazine. I just see them at the grocery store counter. My biggest comment I had during any celebrity break up is quit hiring cute babysitters. Lol
