David Letterman announces retirement

After over three decades as a late night television talk show host, David Letterman has announced his plans to retire in 2015. In a conversation with CBS President Leslie Moonves, Letterman said, “It’s been great. You’ve been great. The network has been great, but I’m retiring.” The Late Show host broke the news to his audience during the taping of Thursday’s episode. Letterman is a late night show legend, whose Top Ten lists and Stupid Pet/Human Tricks became part of American culture. The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon tweeted, “Dave’s the greatest. One of the true innovators in TV history. He’s made all of us better.” Kimmel joined him by tweeting, “David Letterman is the best there is and ever was.” Even President of the United States Barack Obama offered some kind words: “There are more than 10 reasons David Letterman will be missed.”
Letterman, who turns 67 next week, has won five Primetime Emmys, two Daytime Emmys and a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Late Night Talk Show Host. ~Alexandra Sharova[poll id=”579″]
