Dwayne Johnson is People’s 2016 Sexiest Man Alive

Dwayne Johnson is an actor, producer, former professional wrestler, and as of today, 2016’s Sexiest Man Alive.

The 44-year-old Central Intelligence star has been recognized with the title by PEOPLE and replaces last year’s honoree David Beckham.

He was candid with the publication when expressing his thoughts on his latest credit, using the word “awesome” to describe his initial reaction. But that feeling gave way to other thoughts.

Dwayne said, “And then what went through my mind was just how cool and exciting it is. And then I thought, ‘Wow, we’ve pretty much reached the pinnacle.’ I’m not quite too sure where we go from here. I’ve done it all, this is it.”

With the physique of a Greek god — he’s 6’5″ and 245 lbs., most of which is muscle — it’s tough to imagine that the San Andreas actor hasn’t always been confident with his body image. But as he revealed to PEOPLE, it “took a lot of time” for him to feel comfortable in his own skin.

Growing up in Hawaii, he said he was “unsure of who [he] was and who [he] wanted to be” and frequently found himself in trouble, including “getting arrested multiple times.”

But he has since found himself and is now in a healthy relationship with longtime girlfriend Lauren Hashian, as well as being a devoted father to their 11-month-old daughter Jasmine. He also has a 15-year-old daughter named Simone from his former marriage to ex-wife Dany Garcia.

He said, “I’ve made big sweeping changes in my career over the years, which have served me nicely. But I feel that the big sweeping changes that happened in my life, in my relationships, of being a dad, of being a partner, and the things that I was and the things that I am, has really lent itself to a confidence.”

When asked to take a stab at what fans of his find sexy about him, he said, “Ah, a sense of humor. And I think probably just not trying to be sexy and just being cool and confident… I think with a lot of my fans, I’ve gotten to a very, very cool place where there’s a direct line between the man they know off-screen and the man they see on-screen.”

Dwayne’s next film to hit theaters is Disney’s Moana, out Nov. 23.
