Fifty Shades of Grey dominates weekend box office

As expected, audiences flocked to the highly anticipated erotic BDSM-centered film Fifty Shades of Grey on Valentine’s Day weekend. The film, which stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, earned $82.6 million in its debut with 2.75 stars from Tribute.ca readers. It broke the previous Valentine’s Day box office record, held by the movie Valentine’s Day, which took in $23.4 million on that day in 2010.
Making its debut in second place is the action thriller Kingsman: The Secret Service, starring British actor Colin Firth at his dapper best. It debuted with $35.6 million at the box office. Tribute fans enjoyed the film, giving it 5 stars.
Last weekend’s top movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, bumps down to third, raking in an additional $30 million. The family film currently has a 3.4 star rating with Tribute readers.
Dropping two spots to number four is the hit movie American Sniper. This drama brought in $16 million in its fifth week and holds steady with a 4.2 star rating with Tribute readers.
Rounding out the top five is the action space opera Jupiter Ascending starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. It earned an additional $9 million and has a 3.2 star rating at Tribute.ca. ~Sandra D. Sukraj

There was enough advertising for this ridiculous movie- a fat, homely woman’s fantasy about a rich , disturbed man and how someone like her would only be able to hold his interest as a punching bag.
Sad commentary on the dumbi ng down of a generation, & their low self-esteem that lets them mistake bullying abuse pass off as sex play.
