Gnomes climb to top of weekend box office

Last weekend’s third place movie, Gnomeo & Juliet, rose to the top at the North American box office with an estimated take of $14.2 million (all figures U.S.), earning 3.6 stars from Tribute users. The only new movie to debut in the top five was Hall Pass, starring Owen Wilson. It earned $13.4 million in its debut weekend and a 3.6 star rating from Tribute users. Last weekend’s top movie, Unknown, dropped to third place, earning an additional $12.4 millionnand a 4.2 star rating. Just Go With It dropped to fourth place, taking in $11.1 million (Tribute user rating 4 stars). The teen thriller I Am Number Four rounded out the top five, grossing an additional $11 million. Its Tribute user rating went up a point to 4.2 stars. UPDATE: Official numbers are in. Hall Pass was the number one movie with $13.5 million, Gnomeo & Juliet came in second with $13.4 million. Unknown earned $12.6 million; I Am Number Four was in fourth place with $11 million and Just Go With It rounded out the top five with $10.5 million.

    No, did you? I saw I Am Number Four. It was pretty good, but I was shocked to see Megan Follows play a supermarket checkout lady. She had like, one or two lines. Didn’t she play Anne of Green Gables about 20 years ago? It was kind of a shock to see her in such a small role. I thought she was back in Canada doing theatre.

    she was most definitely Anne of Green Gables years and years ago. That’s interesting. I didn’t know she was in I Am Number Four either…
