Michael Jackson’s former physician Conrad Murray has been released from a Los Angeles jail after serving two years of a four year sentence. The doctor was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for causing Jackson’s death in 2009. He had been accused of providing the superstar musician with an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol as a sleeping aid. His medical license has since been revoked or suspended in three states. Murray hopes to appeal the case, which has been met with confusion by the appeals court, which feels an appeal is unnecessary. Murray’s lawyer Valerie Mass claims an appeal would be beneficial for Murray as it would allow his sentence to potentially be reduced and remove some of the stigma attached to his conviction. He has also previously complained about conditions in jail, despite serving his sentence in a Los Angeles jail as opposed to a state prison. ~Raj-Kabir Birk
