While it hasn’t yet been confirmed, Tom Hanks is in talks to play the coveted role of the famous movie mogul Walt Disney in a tell-all film called Saving Mr. Banks, about the making of the 1964 classic Mary Poppins. The movie would detail the true story of the struggle to bring the timeless film to life. Emma Thompson is rumored to play P.L. Travers, the Australian author behind the Mary Poppins books for children. Disney was determined to turn the tale into a movie, but Travers denied him the rights for 14 years before finally giving in. Reportedly, even after the film was made, Travers was not happy with the animation sequences and would not sell to Disney the rights to any more of her works.

i can NOT imagine Tom Hanks as Mr. Disney. They can do better than that
Although Tom Hanks is a wonderful actor, I dont see him as Walt Disney. I dont know who could pull that off though. But then again, I thought noone could play Dr Suess and they cast Johnny Depp, so maybe they will surprise me and cast someone perfect for the role.
Tom Hanks doesn’t look one bit like Disney. Why don’t they cast Dick van Dyke? He played the sweep in Mary Poppins and he has such a wonderful presence.
Tom can act…..make up can do the rest.
Nicolas Cage gets my vote.
