Transformers wins 2014 year end global box office

TransformersAgeofExtinctionTransformers: Age of Extinction starring Mark Wahlberg was the top earning movie at the worldwide box office with $1,087.4 billion, making it the only movie to earn over $1 billion in 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy was the second-highest earning movie globally with $772.5 million, but it was also the top ranked domestic earning movie, both in the States and Canada with a domestic total of $332,862,030. Transformers: Age of Extinction ranked only fifth highest in the States, with $245,439,076, while in Canada, it placed eighth.

Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie, the only movie in the global top five to feature a female lead, was the third-highest grossing movie at the global box office ($757.8 million), landed in sixth place in the U.S. with $241,410,378 million and didn’t make an appearance on the top 10 in Canada. However, at the domestic box office, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which starred Jennifer Lawrence, came in second in the U.S. with $308,939,828 and third in Canada. It ranked eighth place globally, with $671.9 million.
