John Mayer’s Botox injections

By Alexandra Heilbron on March 28, 2013 | 7 Comments

John Mayer underwent surgery for a granuloma in September 2011, which put his career on a temporary hold. In March 2012, he had bad news for his fans when he announced that his tour was postponed indefinitely because despite having the granuloma (a benign inflammation) removed from his vocal cords, it had grown back. While taking a break for 10 months, laryngeal expert Dr. Steven Zeitels injected Mayer’s vocal cords with a small amount of Botox. unfortunately, the problem worsened, so Dr. Zeitels introduced Mayer to otolaryngology specialist Dr. Gerald Berke at the UCLA Voice Center for Medicine and the Arts. “Dr. Berke said, ‘I think I can do this without surgery,” Dr. Zeitels recalled, adding, “In Boston, you were given one unit of Botox. I’m going to give you 17 units to really shut down your vocal cords and let them heal. I’m going to do it now—I’ll go right through into his neck.'” Mayer’s vocal cords were paralyzed for several weeks, but eventually, his condition improved and last Friday, he announced his first post-surgery tour, including one concert in Canada — at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto on August 14, 2013.

He’s my favorite artist. I wish him better health, and a good state of mind especially after breaking up with Katy Perry.

Better use for that than to make someone’s lips look like a pillow.
